Mrs. Inge Raith, a senior citizen, is the first awardee receiving a two penguin-rated Bird & Birder Friendly Award in the town of Otjiwarongo, also known as the Cheetah Capital of the World.

By maintaining a big garden with a relative variety of bird life in Otjiwarongo, Mrs. Raith agrees that although it is important for Namibians to look after bigger animals such as cheetahs, it is of the same importance to take care of smaller animals as well, such as birds.
After having received the award, she responded with a satisfying smile on her face: “This motivates me from now on to take even more care of my feathered friends in my private nature reserve, my garden.”

As usual all awardees get mentioned in Birds in Words, www.birdscontour.blogspot.com, under article nr.71.
