A new wave of
attitude towards elephants migrating over private farmland evolved. Before,
when an elephant only was seen nearby their land, almost panic struck the
farmers having been concerned about their infrastructure and their own safety.
Nowadays the reports from farmers pile up about how happy they are the moment
an elephant migrates over their land.
Christa and
Frank Glöditsch, owners of Gelukspoort Guestfarm, take it even a step further.
They erected water places especially for elephants. Of course any other animals
make use of them as well, but they contain such a volume of water that it is
more than enough for elephants to still their thirst.
And guess what?
Even the small creatures are catered for because these water spots are not only
elephant friendly but also simultaneously bird friendly.
