392 | A pioneer in sustainable tourism - The Victoria Falls Hotel

CONSERVATION & TOURISM

Located in the Victoria Falls National Park, the Victoria Falls Hotel, a grand Edwardian-era hotel, was built in 1904, during a time when Cecil Rhodes famously attempted to link Cape Town to Cairo by rail.

Today guests can relax in tropical gardens with lily ponds and century-old shade trees while enjoying spectacular views of the Batoka Gorge and Bridge.

Because the Victoria Falls Hotel is a pioneer of sustainable tourism in Victoria Falls and plays a leading role in an eco-initiative with emphasis on reducing pollution, avoiding deforestation and rehabilitating degraded land, it received a two penguin-rated Conservation & Tourism Support 2015 Award from BirdsConTour.
