Situated on the banks of the world famous Chobe River in Botswana lies the Kubu Lodge, deriving its name from the Setswana word for 'hippo'.

Kubu Lodge has almost one kilometer of Chobe Riverfront with the goal to share this wild area with guests, while also helping to protect the Chobe's spectacular biodiversity like Bushbuck, Hippo, Crocodile and a variety of birds.

With offering up an old school building on the property free of charge for use by Kazungula Children's Ark Support Group the lodge supports the aim to establish a safe and loving environment for children (aged 2.5 years to 6 years) from Kazungula Village and surrounding areas.

Located in the center of the newly established Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA), the world's largest conservation-oriented area and spanning five southern African countries (Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe), the Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge is situated 130 km west of Katima Mulilo in Namibia's Zambezi Region (Caprivi).

The lodge serves as an example of ecotourism (responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people) in Namibia as a whole by sustainable construction and management, by using 100% solar energy and by being a Joint Venture with the Wuparo Conservancy and its over 2 500 community members.
